This is the ideal location to explore all Northumberland including the magnificent Heritage Coast inundated with glorious castles and sandy beaches or the historic remains of Hadrian’s Wall stretching 73 miles.


The Durham Dales and landscape of the North Pennines offer complete peace when driving across high open moorland enjoying the summits and breathtaking beauty in an AONB. Take a trip to Beamish Open Air Museum where visitors can step back in time and relive the good old days. Haltwhistle, the small town set in the very centre of Britain, is an ideal stop off after exploring Hadrian’s Wall. The Lakes are also easily accessible for a day trip, as are the Scottish Borders. The holiday cottage is set in glorious countryside only a few miles from the A69 and is ideal for walking and cycling. Immediately in front is Staward Gorge, Allen Banks and only 9 miles away lies the historic Abbey town of Hexham. Hexham is a much visited market town with an enchanting Abbey with its Saxon crypt, lively market, annual regatta and many friendly inns. Nearby Corbridge is a must for unique gifts, antique shops, good food pubs and lovely countryside. Allendale, recent winner of Village of the Year in Britain, is a few miles away and offers most amenities. The Carts Bog Pub is ¾ mile; we are also only a couple of miles away from Langley Castle should you be attending one of the many functions there.
